Resolution
Aspect Ratio
Aspect ratio refers to the relationship between the width and height (x:y) of a design space. A 4:3 space is 4 units wide by 3 units high. 4:3 is the standard aspect ratio that produces a boxy looking shape. A 16:9 space is 16 units wide and 9 units high. 16:9 is referred to as widescreen.
Compression
File Types
1. MP4; Moving Picture Experts Group
2. MOV
- Uses MPEG-4 Codec More recent set of standards for video and audio encoding. Most likely, the video you shoot today with your smartphone, watch on a DVD, stream from Netflix is encoded in a format prescribed by the MPEG-4 standard.
- International standard.
- More compressed, smaller in size
2. MOV
- More frequently used for Apple computers - usually played in Quicktime. Also uses MPEG-4 codec.
- Higher in quality, larger in size
What you need to do now
Practise exporting your video in different settings to get the perfect end result.
This would count as experimentation to add to your portfolio.
Do not underestimate how long this could take to perfect! You may need to adjust the settings numerous times to get it right.
Experiment with different settings and test playing on different screens and ask people’s opinion on the quality
