Activity 1 - National Geographic Documentary Trailer
In this task, you are going to create a National Geographic documentary trailer about an animal to help you learn basic editing skills. To start your trailer, follow these steps:
Watch the example National Geographic movie trailer below and analyse the transitions, titles, footage, shot types, etc.
1. Source footage. If you have your own, use that, if not, go to a free stock video website such as Pexels.com to find footage. Browse or search for the animal you have chosen. https://www.pexels.com/videos/
2. Download 3 or 4 clips
3. Move these files from your downloads folder to an allocated folder on your desktop or in your documents.
4. Source music. You need to find some royalty free, unlicensed music you can legally use. Go for something really cinematic. You can try https://www.epidemicsound.com/ as a good starting place. Download and move to your allocated folder with other source clips.
5. Download a National Geographic PNG logo file. Don't just save the image from Google, go to the source and download from there. Use a white logo so it will show on the black video. The one I use is here. https://www.nicepng.com/ourpic/u2q8t4w7w7t4a9e6_logo-national-geographic-adventure/
6. Launch Adobe Premiere Pro
7. Use the video tutorials below to help you create your trailer
8. Export your file and submit to Google Classroom
*In my tutorials I forgot to show you how to do an audio transition (exponential fade out) so I will cover that in an upcming one along with how to speed up and slow down footage.
